Frequently Asked Questions

How to Buy Online?

Once you've picked out a great, new, one-of-a-kind find from our online store, you can select it, add it to your cart, and purchase it all online. At check out, you'll be prompted to select either in-person pickup, shipping or delivery. If you select pickup, your piece will be reserved for you for two weeks. Learn more about our shipping and delivery policies below.

How to buy in-person?

We’re open from 10 to 5 Tuesday through Friday, and Weekends from 10 until 5. Closed on Mondays. Saw something special online? Come in and ask our team about it and we'd be happy to help you find it in our store.

Does Circa 1857 deliver?

Yes, we deliver. We charge a flat $25 fee for delivery within Baton Rouge (a 15 mile radius of Circa 1857). Out side those bounds, we still charge a very affordable rate.

Example: $75 to Lafayette / $95 to New Orleans / $275 to Houston / $475 to Birmingham
Rates vary depending on the piece, but these are pretty accurate. It's about .55 cents per mile roundtrip.

Does Circa 1857 ship?

Yes, we can ship! We ship artwork, and other decor. If you’re interested in a piece of furniture or larger decor, you should inquire at themarket1857@gmail.com or call us at 225-387-8667 for more information BEFORE you purchase.

Does Circa 1857 accept returns?

All sales are final and we are not liable for damages incurred during shipping. To learn more about our return policy, please read our Terms and Condition.

Are prices firm?

Like most antique shops, we’re open to negotiating on prices over $100. Keep in mind though, it’s rather offensive to offer an unreasonable amount on any piece. If a tag says $900, please don’t offer $200… (yes, this has happened plenty of times!) Our prices are generally flexible between 10 and 20 percent, sometimes more depending on the piece, and how long it has been in store. If there is a piece you’re interested in, whether in store or online, and you’d like to see if we can make a discount, please ask one of our team members in store or give us a call/shoot us a text message at 225-387-8667. We’re happy to work with you where we can!

How often do you get new inventory?

We get new inventory almost everyday! Mostly small decor and collectibles daily, but newshipments of furniture come weekly. You never know what may come in to our store!

I’m looking for something in particular, do you have it?

If we don’t have something in store, let us know what you’re looking for and we can try to track it down for you! We attend auctions and markets all over the country…

Does Circa 1857 sell old doors and windows?

Yes, we do! We’ve got a large variety of doors and windows to chose from. We do ask that if you’re looking for a particular size, please come with the dimensions needed so we can assist accordingly

Does Circa 1857 rent vendor / dealer space?

We have a number of booths that are rented to antique and vintage dealers. Fortunately for us, our turnover rate is quite low, and thus space is rarely available. If you’re interested in becoming a dealer give us a call at 225-387-8667 or visit our store and speak to owner Garrett Kemp.
We only rent to dealers, meaning that vendors must be able to commit to maintaining their spaces, bringing in new inventory frequently to replace what has sold.
We do not rent to people who are trying to liquidate an estate, or “downsize” because when the inventory sells, it’s not replaced. Moreover, when the well runs dry, we then have to flll the space again.

Does Circa 1857 accept local artwork on consignment?

Yes, we do! Send a sample of your work, your contact information, and any other relevant information to themarket1857@gmail.com. We’ll review the information and decide whether to consign your artwork.

Does Circa 1857 buy antiques from individuals?

We periodically purchase antiques from individuals, but not too often. Most of our inventory comes from various auctions and dealers.
If you have some inventory you’d like to sell, please send photos to themarket1857@gmail.com along with your contact information, any relevant information to the piece, and the price you have in mind.

Does Circa 1857 host events where people, artists and makers can sell their own wares?

Circa 1857 hosts and participates in several events each year, almost all of which include artists and makers from the community! If you're interested in becoming an event dealer, reach out to us via garrett@circa1857br.com .
